[Solved] Eccessive CPU usage in Windows

TeXmacs (version 1.99.18) uses a ton of CPU time on my laptop, regardless of whether I’m using it. It usually stays between 10% and 15% CPU usage even if minimized.
My laptop is an HP Envy x360 with a Ryzen 5 2500U and 8GB of RAM. It’s running Windows 10 20H2.
Does anyone else have the same problem?

Hi,
in my case no, when TeXmacs is idle (even with a document window open) the processor use is close to 0% (testing now on Windows). At startup it is at a few percent, after about one minute it goes down to the “close to 0%” I am observing now.
I am not good at diagnosing application problems, so hopefully someone else will be able to tell you what to look at.

There is some discussion about it here: https://github.com/slowphil/mingw-w64-texmacs/issues/10#event-4219414724 . It would be useful to know which build of TeXmacs are you using.

I was using the build you mentioned. Thank you, now it’s fixed!
