Adjust counting words possible?

Hi all,

I’m currently finishing an assignment that requires a 4,000-word count. Usually, at least at my university, words are counted without footnotes, headlines/sections, the bibliography and captions. Is it possible to adjust the word count tool (Tools > Statistics > Count words) to exclude these elements? If not, such a feature would be extremely helpful!

For now, I’m copying and pasting the text body into another TM session in order to count the words precisely. However, for longer documents that include captions, footnotes and a bibliography, this becomes rather cumbersome.

I think one can do it with a procedure that subtracts from the total number of words the number of words which are in environments which are part of a list. I am writing a procedure that does that, which will have limitations and might be imprecise by a few words but might also be enough. I’ll post again when I have it.
