How do you insert the default itemize environment using a keyboard shortcut via Mogan on a MacBook Pro?

It’s not clear what I should type from the shortcut shown in the menu item, namely “+, →|”

Hi @amichail, which of the three symbols you wrote are not clear? Pls. let me know.

All of them are not clear.

I’m assuming the + has something to do with the numeric keypad, which is not a convenient thing to use on a laptop.

I’m assuming the arrow might have something to do with the return key or maybe the cursor right key. Maybe the “|” after a cursor right indicates a move to the end of the line, so maybe opt-cursor right or ctrl-cursor right is the key combo?

Why? There’s a + key.

No comma in between, so the two marks are to be read as forming a symbol that represents a key. There are a few symbols listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tab_key#Unicode, maybe you can find out what works, Please ask if this is not enough.

I finally understand now, but it is very counterintuitive as a keyboard shortcut.

The shortcut Alt-i might work as well, I would try it.
In addition to this, TeXmacs lets you add your own keyboard shortcuts through the function kbd-map; you may refer either to the manual or to this forum for how one uses that.

Ctrl-i works in TeXmacs but it doesn’t in Mogan.

Thanks for the information. It might be a good occasion to test kbd-map

By the way, in my copy of TeXmacs it is Alt-i, not Ctrl-i.

See https://mogan.app/guide/Mogan_versus_TeXmacs.html#structured-key-prefix-structured-cmd-and-structured-insert

Ctrl-i is now replaced with Alt-i.

It is a markdown style shortcut.
