I cannot make a binding with the ô key

The keybinding
(kbd-map (“ô” (save-buffer)))
works if I enter it interactively (using the eval scheme command prompt). But when I enter it into my init file, it no longer works for some reason. How can I fix this?

The character is o with a circumflex U+00F4.

I would start TeXmacs from the terminal and look for error messages. Sometimes they are there and are helpful.
