Is there a way to insert multiple citations together?

Yes, \cite supports multiple parameters: http://www.texmacs.org/tmdoc/main/styles/std/std-automatic-bib.en.html

For macros accepting multiple but variable number of parameters, click the button which looks like “direction right” on the focus bar to add parameters.
