Interested in contributing to Web Based Collaborative Editing Core - (GSoC 2026)

Hello everyone, my name is Prathmesh Shukla, and I’m a final year CS undergrad currently working as a fullstack dev. I’ve previously worked with C++ and data structures as an intern, and I’ve also been building and designing products as a freelancer.

I’m very interested in contributing to MoganLab for GSoC 2026. While going through the proposed project ideas, I came across the “Web-Based Collaborative Editing Core” project, which aligns closely with what I’ve been working on recently. I previously built a cloud-based collaborative coding environment with features like real-time collaboration, a whiteboard, and chat. I’m sharing two iterations of that work for reference:

  • v1: Dobby-V1 - Please be patient, it may take a while to load xD
  • v2: Dobby-V2 - I’m currently working on deploying it’s backend

I’d really appreciate any guidance on how best to approach this.

I’m keen to learn the internals of the codebase and understand the architecture and design decisions behind this project. Could you please suggest any beginner-friendly issues, small tasks, or areas where I can start contributing to get familiar with the system?

Thanks once again for your time and reading till the end
