Spacing around binary operators

Yesterday I installed version 2.1.4 (Windows 11) and I noticed that the spacing around binary operators (">", “<”, the common set operators, etc.) has vanished. It is quite noticeable and I’ve confirmed it by comparing with math texts I wrote with previous versions of TeXmacs and exported to PDF. It is very annoying to the point of making the editor unusable. I’d very much appreciate any help in solving this issue. Thanks in advance.
PS: The issue seems to be related to item B.4.1 in the TeXmacs User Manual, “Improved spacing inside formulas”. It is exactly this improved spacing what I have lost by installing the newest version.

Can you please show a screenshot of a formula with incorrect spacing? I have also experienced incorrect spacing, I think on Windows only but I might be wrong, and I have never been able to pinpoint when it happens. Maybe we should report this as a bug on Savannah.

If in your case the bug is persistent (unlike in my case) you might also post the issue in the mailing list to hopefully attract the attention of the developers.

I believe this issue is related to bug #63989, which was extensively discussed in a previous forum thread. There doesn’t seem to have been much progress on it so far. If this matters to you, @fameros, I suggest trying TeXmacs 2.1.1 as a workaround.

I see that I had participated in that thread and also forgotten about it
Thanks for bringing the thread and the bug report to everyone’s attention.

@fameros You might also want to try the latest nightly builds for Windows, as there have been many changes since version 2.1.4. Unfortunately, I can’t test it myself since I don’t have access to a Windows device, but we’d love to hear your feedback!

Thank you very much for replying. I agree, the issue I’m facing seems related to the bug you linked. That is disheartening, since the bug report is more than two years old. Do you know where can I get the Windows installer for TeXmacs 2.1.1? This bug makes the current version unusable to me.

TeXmacs 2.1.1 can be downloaded from here.

I have pasted in the following image a couple of formulas I took from a PDF I created last year with version 2.1.2, together with the same formulas created today with version 2.1.4. You can clearly see in the second set of formulas the loss of spacing around the equal sign and the set belonging operator:

It may seem minor, but it has made another document I’m working on almost illegible since it contains long formulas with logic and set theory binary operators. It looks like a text with no spaces between the words.

I’ve just reinstalled version 2.1.2 and the spacing around operators is back. Thank you very much for your help, sir! I’ll probably never update TeXmacs again.
